Displays and sets access control lists on files and directories.
icacls takes a file or directory name as its’ first parameter. It has other parameters to:
- find files with a stated SID in their Discretionary Access Control Lists (DACLs)
- find files with ACLS that are not canonical or have lengths that are inconsistent with access control entry counts
- remove a stated SID from the DACLs of files and directories
- change ownership
- reset ACLs to the default inherited ACLs
- change permissions
- substitute SIDs
- backup and restore DACLs
