Finds text strings in text files.
findstr supports more granular string searches and reporting than the find command. Searches are case sensitive unless the /i parameter is stated. It displays lines in the file that contain the search string. Line numbers can be prepended to the display by stating the /n parameter. Search strings of more than one word need to be contained in quotation marks.
Examples of enhanced functionality are /f: which retrieves a file list from a file and /g: which retrieves search strings from files.
