Instantiates an LDAP server from an Active Directory snapshot or backup
Snapshots of the volumes containing the Active Directory partitions and log files are taken using the Volume Shadowcopy Service (VSS). Snapshots can be mounted as a LDAP server on a domain controller using the Active Directory database mounting tool dsamain. Snapshots can be used to restore Active Directory the snapshot state in the event of data loss or damage. Multiple snapshots can be mounted as LDAP servers and compared to determine the safest most complete snapshot to restore.
