App-V launch message - "The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

Symptoms

Attempts to open a file using the file association result in the error "Restrictions: The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

Description

App-V creates File Type Association launch commands for some MSI installed applications using command strings stored in the HKLM\Softgrid keys on the client machine.

If the values in these keys are set as below launches using File Type Associations will fail.

The symtoms are:
Double clicking files in Windows Explorer do not result in a launch. Attempts to open, for example, a PDF file from a web link would result in the error:

Restrictions: The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

These keys need to be set with the following values to fix the problem.
